Governor’s Office of Highway Safety Grant Awards Chino Valley Police Dept. $14,000

The Chino Valley Police Department is proud to announce it has been awarded a $14,000 grant from the Arizona Governor’s Office of Highway Safety for the federal fiscal year 2026. This funding is specifically designated for personnel services and employee-related expenses, enabling the department to fund officer overtime for focused traffic enforcement operations.

The first grant, totaling $5,600, will support DUI and impaired driving enforcement efforts. This funding is essential for protecting the safety and well-being of our community by removing impaired drivers from the road, helping to prevent serious crashes, injuries, and fatalities that can have life-altering consequences for everyone involved.

The second grant, for $8,400, is dedicated to the Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP), which targets speeding and other dangerous driving behaviors. Traffic enforcement plays a critical role in promoting safer roads by reducing accidents caused by distracted drivers, reckless driving, and speeding. It encourages compliance with traffic laws, lowering the risk of collisions and injuries. Additionally, consistent enforcement raises public awareness about safe driving, helping to create a safer environment for all members of our community.

Our participation in multi-agency task force operations during high-traffic and holiday periods will also be supported by this funding, further enhancing collaborative efforts to keep our roadways safe.

The Chino Valley Police Department is grateful to Director Torrez and the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety for their continued support for the safety of our roadways and citizens. This funding will enhance our ability to serve and protect the citizens of Chino Valley.
