17th annual Wander the Wild comes home to the Highlands Center for Natural History

Date September 28, 2025
Time 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm

The Highlands Center for Natural History’s signature annual fundraising event

All proceeds directly fund educational programs.

This year, the 17th annual Wander the Wild comes home to the Highlands Center for Natural History. Our theme, Homecoming, celebrates both a return and a belonging. The Greek root of ecology—eco, meaning home—reminds us that we are deeply rooted in the Central Highlands ecoregion, our cherished homeplace.

Join us in celebrating Homecoming—reconnecting with community, honoring nature, and supporting the future of discovery and caretakership in the Central Highlands.

An Evening to Remember

Unless you joined us for Wander the Wild in the 1990s, you’ve never seen a fundraiser like this!

  • Mingle, raffle, and savor Central Highlands–inspired appetizers from El Gato Azul
  • Enjoy local flavors with wine from Page Springs Cellars and select drinks at the bar
  • Stroll through the James Family Discovery Gardens, glowing with the beauty of September and filled with activities that bring our mission to life.
  • Be inspired—at 6:15 pm, gather in the Kiwanis Amphitheater for a moving program and request support for projects that root us in our homeplace and invest in future generations
  • Relax comfortably with new amphitheater cushions
