Sims, who made the trip up from Surprise, needed to rally to beat Cody Williams in the final game of the day. Williams opened up a 12-1 lead early with four ringers (3 points per ringer), but could not keep the momentum in the 40 shoe game. Midway through, Sims began to get an extra ringer here and there, trimming Williams’ lead, and eventually overcoming the deficit to win the game by five.

Earlier in the day, Sims had a great battle with Robert Chubinsky that resulted in a tie. The two played almost as evenly as possible, with the leader only getting ahead by as many as four points.
