2050 CYMPO Regional Transportation Draft Plan is Open for Public Comment

Over the past year, the Central Yavapai Metropolitan Planning Organization (CYMPO) has been working to update its Regional Transportation Plan, called Move 2050, which serves as a blueprint for future priority investments in the roads and transit system throughout much of Yavapai County. This plan is reviewed and updated every five years, and the current version draft final report is now open for public review and comment.

Community residents, visitors, businesses, and anyone interested in the Move 2050 Plan are now able to view the draft on the project’s website and provide comments on an associated survey.

The public comment period begins May 23, 2025 and ends on June 24, 2025. Comments may be provided to the CYMPO using the following methods:

Survey:                       https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/PWFM3FZ

Move 2050’s goals include improvements to address all modes of travel including bike, pedestrian, mobility devices, buses, and vehicles. Move 2050 is a forward-looking roadmap that aims to connect the community, secure future transportation infrastructure, and create a responsive, adaptive transportation system that meets the evolving needs of the greater Yavapai County area.

To work toward these regional goals and address the needs of the communities, the Move 2050 Plan makes the following investment recommendations:

  • Preservation – Projects that maintain existing transportation infrastructure by mitigating the deterioration of existing transportation facilities and elongating infrastructure’s service life.
  • Modernization – Projects that improve congestion, functionality, or safety on the roadway network without adding additional capacity.
  • Expansion – Projects that increase roadway capacity through development of new roadway facilities or additional infrastructure.

To view the draft report, provide comments, and access other project documents, visit the Move 2050 Plan website at https://www.cympo.org/move2050/.

  1. Just more congestion downtown. Take it out of downtown! Stop making our town impossible to drive through. Just another stupid idea to make our already bad problem worse.

  2. What else is the planning and zoning people going to think of? How about parking meters, that would give them more money to waste. Downtown is becoming just another Phoenix and people are starting to move out to a less crowded less congested and less money hungry city councilmen and planning and zoning. We can all say goodbye to Prescott, our small town which is now ruled by money and not the people.

    1. I completely agree with harriet b, she said it like it really is. Until the council finds more way to destroy our town they will throw more money at the unwanted rodeo.
