Prescott Farmers Market (PFM) welcomes customers for its 28th summer season on Saturday, April 5. The market will be open every Saturday from 7:30am to noon at 900 Iron Springs Road at the Dignity Health-YRMC overflow parking lot. The market is a vibrant hub for the community, where farmers, artisans, and residents come together to celebrate and support local agriculture and small businesses. The market’s tagline is “See your neighbors. Meet your farmers. Know your food.”

Prescott Farmers Market operates a year-round, producer-only farmers market, meaning every item sold is either grown or produced by the seller featuring Arizona-grown ingredients. The majority of products come from farmers, ranchers and food makers in Yavapai County. From more than 60 vendors, customers can find a variety of fresh vegetables, grass-fed beef, eggs, poultry, seafood, baked goods, honey, coffee and kombucha. Vendors also offer a variety of prepared foods “to go” such as cinnamon rolls, bagels, donuts, croissants, quiche, Texas-style BBQ, tamales, burritos, tacos, samosas, and Korean BBQ. Personal care products like goat milk soap, lotions, salves and sprays are available. Local crafters attend each week, too. During the month of May, farmers have plant starts for sale including herbs, tomatoes, peppers, squash and eggplant varieties that grow well in Yavapai County’s climate.

Kathleen Yetman, PFM’s Executive Director, brings her family every week because “the community at the market is so meaningful to me. Over the past 11 years, vendors have watched me and my children grow; it feels like family here. My go-tos at the summer markets include Schaffer Farms snap peas and strawberries in late May, roasted peppers in September from Reyes Farm and Whipstone Farm, and horchata for the kids from Lupe’s Tamales.”

PFM hosts FREE special events on a regular basis including a Cookbook Exchange on April 12, a Seed Exchange on May 3 and Chef in Action once per month. All PFM events, including a vendor roster for each market day (subject to change), are listed on the online event calendar. PFM also serves as the drop site for the Prescott Community Compost Program, where citizens can deposit fruit and vegetable kitchen scraps to be composted.

Customers can swipe their debit, credit or SNAP/EBT cards to receive tokens at the Information Booth. The Double Up Food Bucks Arizona program allows customers to DOUBLE their SNAP benefits at the market for fresh fruits and vegetables and garden starts. All vendors accept cash. Participants of the WIC and CSFP programs are eligible to receive Farmers Market Nutrition Program coupons for immediate use at PFM.

Pets are not allowed at the market. ADA service animals specifically trained to aid a person with a disability are welcome.

As a vital part of the economy, the mission of Prescott Farmers Market is to support and expand local agriculture, cultivate a healthy community and increase access to affordable local food.
