Badgers Slam Mohave in Double Header Blowouts

After a thrilling 7-6 home opening win over Deer Valley, the Badgers made the trip to Bullhead City and literally pounded the Mohave Thunderbirds 13-0 and 15-0 in a doubleheader that went a total of seven innings.

Game one saw starting pitcher Travis Gates give up just one hit while striking out four, allowing two walks, in three innings of work. Coley Fundalewicz came in to close things out in the bottom of the fourth including striking out two.

At the plate, Gates helped his own cause with a pair of singles and two RBIs. Cooper Magnett had a pair of hits including a double and an RBI. Ivan Shuster also had a double and scored twice. Luke Tobin had a single and two RBIs. Nick Martin had a two hits and an RBI.

Game two was even shorter as the Badgers equaled their hit total with a 15-0 win.

Prescott was led by Parker Reed’s one hit and three RBIs, and Ivan Shuster who two hits and two RBIs. Nick Martin had an RBI single and scored three times. Ashton Whitwell, Colton Champion, and William Horn all had two RBIs a piece.

Meanwhile like the opening game, the Badgers pitched a second consecutive shutout. William Horn went two innings allowing three walks and two strikeouts to pick up the win. Matt Hepperle finished the day off accounting for the final goose egg by the Thunderbirds.

Prescott improves to (4-3) on the young season and sits on top of the Grand Canyon Region at (2-0). Mohave fell to (0-2) and (5-7). The Badgers will travel to face Agua Fria on Monday at 3:45 pm, before returning home to face Coconino on Tuesday at 3 pm.
