It was a tough night for the Prescott Lady Badgers in their quest to overtake the top team in the Grand Canyon Region for the past eight seasons. Flagstaff’s pressure defense and outside shooting was just too much to overcome in a 59-44 setback to the Lady Eagles.
The win extends the Flagstaff streak to 100 games and they have not lost a Grand Canyon Region game since January 10, 2017. The Lady Eagles clinched their eighth straight region title with their 18th win in a row over Prescott.
Flagstaff coach Tyrone Johnson said, “It’s just another win for us. The girls always play hard. We really wanted to get this game because Prescott is a good team and we can really use some more power points to help improve our ranking as we get ready for the playoffs.” In the latest poll, Flagstaff is sitting at #4, while Prescott is now at #9.
It was a tight game in the first quarter. Prescott held leads of 4-3 and 9-7, but once the Lady Eagles tied the game at eleven, then took the lead, they never looked back.

Bella Abt and was huge for keeping the Lady Badgers close early as she did everything from brining the ball up court to shots outside and battling hard inside the paint. Abt left it all on the court with a game high 21 points. Addie Prisciandaro scored 15 while being challenged on nearly every shot.
Freshman Sunshine Begoody led the Lady Eagles with 18 points. Junior Carter Edison scored 17, and senior Teagan Martin added 16.
Flagstaff led by three after one quarter, but the Lady Badgers offense left the building and scoring only four points left them with a 27-18 deficit at the half.

Once again Flagstaff came out and pressured Prescott. Seemed like every time the Lady Badgers would make a little run, Flagstaff would force turnovers and get quick buckets to pad their lead.
Trailing 43-30 after three quarters, the Lady Badgers would only get as close as 11 in the final eight minutes.
Flagstaff will play at Coconino while Prescott travels to Mingus on Tuesday. Both games start at 7 pm.
