New Bear Cubs on Exhibit at the Heritage Park Zoological Sanctuary

Heritage Park Zoological Sanctuary is welcoming two new bear cubs to the Sanctuary! This past October the zoo worked closely with Game & Fish to rescue Baby Bear “A.” She arrived with a leg injury that needed extensive antibiotic care and was treated by Prescott Animal Hospital. Her mother and sister sibling were then relocated to Mesa by state agencies. One month later the sister sibling was determined to be too comfortable around humans, and had acquired a chest injury while scavenging in neighborhoods. As a precaution she was transferred to HPZS to be treated and housed with her sibling. She is currently named Baby Bear “B.” Both bears are doing well and have been moved onto exhibit. They have been seen tussling together and getting reacquainted.

The addition of these new animals required some animal moves and other “bear necessities.” We will be holding a fundraiser for exhibit improvements on Tuesday, March 18th at Texas Roadhouse at 3310 Gateway Blvd in Prescott, from 4pm-8pm. This “Dine to Donate” fundraiser will help meet the bear’s needs. Please join us and bring the flyer with the bar code to participate. 10% of your meal’s proceeds will benefit the bears!

To learn more about the sanctuary and the fundraiser visit our website. The zoo is currently on Winter hours and is open daily from 10am-4pm.

Heritage Park Zoological Sanctuary is a local not-for-profit, 501 (c) (3) wildlife sanctuary and education facility dependent on our community for support. We are open to the public year-round and are available for educational out-reach programs on request.  We also conduct conservation triage and rehabilitation to more than 300 injured wild animals every year.
