Central Arizona Firefighters and Medical Authority (CAFMA) responded to a reported structure fire in Dewey-Humboldt, which was later determined to be a wildland fire. Thanks to a swift response, the fire was quickly contained, with no injuries or structural damage reported.
The cause appears to have been hot ashes improperly disposed of outside. Remember these safety tips:
- Let ashes cool 24-48 hours
- Store in a metal container with a lid
- Soak ashes with water
- Store the metal container outside away from decks, porches, garages, or dry vegetation until completely cool
Please always stay vigilant to prevent wildfires!
