The Soap Fire was reported on Sunday afternoon, December 15, in the Bradshaw Mountains about three miles west of Black Canyon City.
The fire started in a steep, rugged area with limited access. The fire has burned in high desert brush and grass on BLM and state lands.
Fire crews continue work in the area. Smoke may be visible. The fire size is about 630 acres with 10% containment.

Alright……I give in……..Why is it called the “Soap” fire?
I never knew that soap burned.
Fires are often named for the street or a landmark they are near.
Then that fact should have been explained in the original article by the article’s author. Instead, the reader is left to guess, and in the end, waste his or her time while scratching his/her head. No wonder that journalism has lost its luster.
