We’ve received several concerns about traffic violations around school buses, and our Motor Officers have been on the scene, addressing the issue. Some drivers have been stopped for failing to halt when a school bus was loading or unloading children.
Let’s review the rules to keep our kids safe:
- Two-lane roads: All vehicles MUST STOP in both directions when a school bus has its stop sign extended and lights flashing.
-
Multi-lane roads without a median: Same rule applies—vehicles in both directions MUST STOP.
- Divided highways with a median: Only traffic following the bus MUST stop.
Your communication and support are vital to keeping our community safe. We’ll continue monitoring these areas to ensure everyone is doing their part. Let’s work together to protect the children of Prescott.
