Former President Donald Trump is injured but safe after a bullet fired by a would-be assassin pierced his right ear while he spoke at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on July 13.

The FBI is working to establish the identity of the attacker, including through DNA testing. Officials say the suspected shooter was a 20-year-old male. No motive has been identified.

Law enforcement officials describe the attack as an assassination attempt.

The president was airlifted from the rally venue and treated at a local hospital.

What else we know so far:

  • The Secret Service shot and killed the attacker, who fired from a nearby rooftop with a direct line of sight to the former president.
  • Law enforcement personnel were responding to several reports of suspicious activity in the minutes leading up to the shooting, officials say. Several witnesses on the ground say they saw the man on the roof prior to the shooting and had warned law enforcement officers.
  • One rally attendee was killed and two seriously injured during the shooting, officials say. All three victims were adult males.
  • President Joe Biden addressed the nation, offering prayers for former President Trump and condemning the shooting. Democrats and Republicans expressed shock and issued an outpouring of well wishes.
  • The Trump campaign confirmed in a statement that the former president will appear as planned at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, where he will be formally nominated to represent the GOP in the presidential election.
  • House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) said that Congress intends to conduct a full investigation into the attack.

This is a developing story.

  1. The “key” question is why didn’t the police snipers or Secret Service see this man with a long rifle on the white roof of a building 130 yards away with a line of sight to the president at the podium ? It appears that if President Trump had not turned his head and was looking towards the snipers location; he would have been killed with a left temple shot.
But will we ever know with the current corrupt crowd in Washington controlling everything? Pray and vote. M A G A
