Mayer High School to Host Mock Accident Event on May 7th

Mayer High School located at 17300 E. Mule Deer Dr. in Spring Valley, is partnering with the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office, Mayer Fire Department, Prescott Valley Police Department (PVPD), and the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety to host a mock car accident scene to showcase the dangers of driving under the influence of alcohol and other drugs. The event will be on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.

The assembly will take place at the school where victims and survivors of fatal DUI crashes will tell their stories to the students. Local agencies including PVPD, Mayer Fire Department, Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office, Spectrum, and Mothers Against Drunk Drivers will be present for the assembly. Several emergency vehicles will also be present, but this is only for the school assembly.

This event is part of an ongoing commitment to educating our local youth about the dangers of impaired driving and the lasting effects that preventable drunk driving accidents have on the community as well as individuals within the community.

  1. This is a great service and hopefully the horrific stories of lives lost through the acts from the past will save lives in the future. As a teenager of the 1950’s AAA made a presentation every spring to my high school. They provided 1-2 total car wrecks to be described for a walk around for students as well as videos related to the importance of safe driving and the dangers of alcohol-sleep deprivation and anger while driving.
I would encourage the addition of total wrecked cars and pickups to focus the attention of new drivers throughout our area.
