The defenses made it a low scoring quarter as both teams struggled to move the ball. The Wranglers scored when Jones connected with McCorker in the back of the end zone to give NAZ a 39-28 lead. Tucson countered with a 6 yard run by Mylik Mitchell to make the score 39-34 after three quarters.

The Wranglers used the clock to their advantage in the final two and half minutes. David Elder went around the end from two yards out to give Northern Arizona the lead for good. The final drive needed 10 plays to go 45 yards, but as important was their ability to run the clock all the way down to eight seconds.

The defense was able to knock down a last second pass into the end zone to secure the win.

Joshua Jones played a very good game at quarterback with zero turnovers for the Wranglers by completing 19-27-0 for 212 yards with five touchdown passes. Jones also rushed for 31 yards and a touchdown said, “I thought overall it was a good game. We got a lot of contributions from different players, and we were able to protect the ball which always is a plus. Getting a win at home is big, and I am glad that we were able to get that done tonight.”

Arsiah McCorker caught six passes for 65 yards and two touchdowns and ran the ball twice for 25 yards and a touchdown. Defensively, Travion Banks had eight tackles. Shanon Reid had seven tackles. Tramond Lofton was involved with three of his six tackles that were in the Sugar Skulls backfield, and Malik Sonnier had one interception and four tackles.
