Prisciandaro Sets Lady Badgers Scoring Record

Photo: Addie Prisciandaro set a school record in just her sophomore season

Varsity Girls Basketball

The Prescott Lady Badgers secured second place in the Grand Canyon Region with a 70-55 win over the Mingus Marauders in Cottonwood. As big of the news as that was, there was something more to celebrate.

Addie Prisciandaro scored a season high of 34 points and set a new season scoring record with 531 points breaking the previous record set by Dani Russell in 2001. The sophomore leads the Grand Canyon Region in scoring averaging 21 points and is third in the 4A division, and 10th in the entire state.

Bella Abt scored 20 as the Lady Badgers took care of the Marauders for the second time this season.

Prescott trailed by two, 18-16 after the opening quarter. A big second quarter gave the Lady Badgers a 40-32 lead at the half.  Prescott extended the lead by three to go up 52-41 after three quarters and maintained a healthy lead for a comfortable margin of victory.

The Lady Badgers continue to move up in the AIA 4A Division rankings, sitting in the #16 spot. Prescott is having their best season since the 2015-16 year when the Lady Badgers went (22-6).

Prescott (17-8), will take their four game win streak up north to face first place Flagstaff (23-4) on Thursday at 7 pm. The Lady Eagles have won 14 straight and beat the Lady Badgers 74-42 on December 12 in Prescott.
