Devon Christie scored 2/3 of the Volunteers points with 22. Uriah Tenette led the Badgers with 20 in limited playing time, as was with most of the starting five for Prescott. Zane Gaul scored 14 and Cooper Magnett scored 13 for the second straight night.
Magnett said, “We knew it would be a challenge to come right back after the big win last night, in fact we almost forgot we had a game, but coach got us ready to go tonight and we just went out and played. We did not want to overlook Lee Williams, and we came out and got the job done.”
The Badgers started off quick, and after a three pointer by Magnett, led 7-0. Prescott led 15-4 after the pressure defesne led to some quick buckets by Tenette and Magnett. Lee Williams started to warm up and trailed by ten after the first quarter.
The lead continued to grow as the Volunteers searched for anything to try and slow the Badgers down. Prescott continued to extend the lead as the bench was getting into the game. Despite a 6-0 mini run by Lee Williams, the Badgers moved ahead and led 57-28 at the end of three quarters.
Danian Bernardo came off the bench to score 8, and said, ”It was good to get the minutes on the court and work on getting better overall as a team. I actually like playing against a bigger guy. It is a challenge, but a fun one.”
Gaul said, “We had to come out strong and try to play hard and play fast. That is what we did last night and we didn’t want to let up. We have a big game Monday and did not want to look ahead.”
Prescott, ranked #6, improves to (9-0) in The Grand Canyon Region and (19-3) overall. Lee Williams falls to (3-6) and (10-10). The Badgers will face a tough test and a battle for first place when they travel to face Flagstaff (7-0), (12-11) on Monday at 7 pm. The Eagles have won five in a row and six of their losses have been to top 10 teams.
