At 11:12 am on 1/19/24 the Prescott Regional Communications Center received reports of a house that was on fire in the 900 block of Northwood Loop in the Haisley Homestead subdivision. A first alarm structure fire assignment was dispatched which included three engines, one ladder truck, and one battalion chief. The first arriving engine found a fire in the garage that was beginning to extend into the living area above the garage. Crews rapidly knocked down the fire but were faced with extended extinguishment due to smoldering debris from a heavy load of items that were stored in the garage. Crews were also faced with a flammable liquid component to the fire from approximately 5 gallons of fuel that had leaked. The fire was contained to the garage. The residents were able to evacuate without any injury. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
The Prescott Fire Department would like to remind residents that flammable liquids should be stored in approved containers and away from ignition sources. It is also imperative that every home be equipped with functioning smoke detectors that are less than 10 years old.
