The desire to break free from the high-pressure demands of modern careers has been a common dream for many. As the pandemic brought in an era where remote work had become more accessible, many anticipated that a significant shift towards a more relaxed lifestyle would follow. However, the anticipated liberation did not fully materialize. Many who transitioned to working from home found themselves under the same stress, if not more, due to heightened surveillance from company IT departments. Now it appears the desire to leave the competitive grind of corporate life is now more pronounced than ever.
In light of this, JoyOrganics.com carried out a survey of 3,000 professionals to uncover the most coveted towns and cities in America for those aiming to distance themselves from the relentless pace of the rat race. Participants were asked to name American localities where they would prefer to relocate to start afresh, far from the demanding environment of their current professions. The survey uncovered some very interesting results and destinations!
#1 Kailua, Hawaii
Perhaps unsurprisingly, a Hawaii destination took the top spot. Located on Oahu, Kailua offers beautiful beaches, outdoor activities, and a laid-back atmosphere. It’s ideal for a relaxed life away from the city’s bustle.
#2 Pulaski, Tennessee
Steeped in history and Southern charm, Pulaski offers historic attractions, beautiful architecture, and a friendly atmosphere, ideal for a relaxing and culturally rich experience.
#3 Ferndale, California
Rounding up the top 3 came Ferndale, a charming Victorian village nestled in a pastoral valley. It offers a step back in time with its well-preserved architecture and tranquil rural setting. This picturesque town is perfect for those seeking a slower pace of life and a chance to immerse in history and nature.

Perched high on Cleopatra Hill, Jerome is a historic copper mining town turned artist community. With its fascinating history, vibrant arts scene, and panoramic views, Jerome is a unique retreat for those looking to immerse themselves in creativity and history away from urban sprawl.

Prescott combines old-world charm with natural beauty. Its historic downtown, framed by the Prescott National Forest, offers a respite with its Victorian homes, antique shops, and art galleries. The town’s mild climate and proximity to outdoor activities like hiking and kayaking make it an ideal spot for those seeking both cultural richness and nature’s tranquility.
