Tenette, Gaul Lead Slamfest Over Mohave

The Prescott Badgers started of 2024 with a show in a 79-32 win over the Mohave Thunderbirds in the Badger Dome.

Three players scored in double figures while the Prescott defense held Mohave without a single player scoring more than six points. Uriah Tenette led with 30, Zane Gaul had 22.

Cooper Magnett scored 14 in his return for the first time on the home court this season and said, “It was a good game and a fun game. Everyone got in some playing time which is good. It was good to be back on the court in the dome. It was a good team win.”

Prescott controlled the tempo from the start. Pressure defense and creating turnovers and numerous fast break baskets lead to a seventeen first quarter lead.

Many of those turnovers led to a sort of slamfest with Uriah Tenette and Zane Gaul creating their own highlight reel. When the dust settled into halftime, the Badgers held a very comfortable 50-20 lead. Tenette said, “We came out and played hard and to have some fun.”

The second half saw most of the starters getting a rest as the bench players were getting a good amount of minutes.

Prescott (1-0) in the Grand Canyon Region, (11-3) overall will travel to Coconino tonight at 7 pm. Mohave (1-2) and (5-7) will host Flagstaff.
