Uriah Tenette razzled and dazzled the home crowd with a 33 point performance in the Badgers 73-57 win over the Marcos de Niza Padres. Zane Gaul added 18 and eight rebounds.
The Badgers fell behind early 7-4, but put a string of baskets together to close out the first quarter with a seven point lead. The lead grew slightly in the second quarter as the Badgers led 31-22 at the half.
As Prescott slowly added to their lead a scary moment occurred when Gaul came crashing to the floor after a slam dunk. He was helped to his feet and had his wrist taped up by trainer Trent James. Gaul said, “I am a little sore right now but all things considered I am ok.” As for the game itself, “That’s my boy, James (Steward). He is on my club team. We had real good battle on. Just wish I hadn’t gotten hurt, but I will be fine. I will be ready to go on Monday.”

The rest of the third quarter saw the lead grow a little more with Prescott up 55-43. The Padres fell behind by 18 early in the fourth, then closed the gap to 12 with a couple minutes left, before falling by 16.
Tenette, said, “We need to figure out how to start games off better. We have a good team coming up (Deer Valley), and we need to show up from the start against them.”
Prescott (6-1) will be tested with a big game at Deer Valley on Monday. The Skyhawks are undefeated at (7-0). Tip time is 7 pm.
