Remote Location available for Overflow Capacity
The City of Prescott Public Works Department will provide City Council with an update for the State Route 89 (SR 89) Infrastructure Improvement Project, which includes potential widening of the roadway, on Tuesday, December 12 at 1 p.m. Staff will share the results of the SR 89 survey and discuss next steps. Since this will be a study session, no action will be taken.
At the meeting, Public Works staff will review the results of the survey which was open from July through early Fall of this year. Public Works Director Gwen Rowitsch said that there have been over 1,500 responses to the survey. “We will provide the full data set to Council and summarize the written responses on December 12,” said Director Rowitsch. “Then, immediately following the Study Session, all public comments from the survey will be made available on the City website and at SR89Improvements.com.
Since this will be a study session, no action will be taken. A final decision will be made at a future council meeting.
City Manager Katie Gregory said that due to the public interest in this topic, overflow space will be made available where citizens can watch the proceedings and make public comments. “This project has garnered a great deal of public interest,” said City Manager Gregory. “We want to allow as many citizens as possible to attend and be heard.”
In addition to Prescott City Hall at 201 N. Montezuma, the Prescott Police Department Training Room, located at 222 S. Marina Street, will be available with remote viewing and remote public speaking capabilities. Citizens will be able to make public comments from both locations.
Citizens wishing to view the meeting without making public comment can watch the meeting several ways, including on the City website, Prescott-az.gov; City of Prescott Facebook Page; and City of Prescott Youtube Channel. The meeting will also air on Sparklight public access channel 64.
The web page, SR89Improvements.com will remain active, as will the virtual meeting room where citizens can review past documents, and all updates about the project.

Our Dells, our Red rocks are a treasure we hold dear. Growth may be necessary if we have the water for it, however, how we treat the Dells in this matter is important. Mayor Goode and the council seem to be taking this very seriously.
I shudder to have the same issue in Prescott Valley with a narcistic mayor and his mainly quiet “chicks”.
I will be interested if ADOT and Prescott do a cost benefit analysis of double decking Sr89 thru the Dells. At a minimum it must be considered.
