The Chino Valley Unified School District (CVUSD) extends an invitation to the community for the Teacher Housing Open House and Ribbon Cutting to be held on Wednesday September 27, 2023, at 1:30 pm.

The ceremony will take place at the building site located near the Open House, Ribbon Cutting,  corner of N Road 1 W and W Road 2 N, directly west of the Del Rio Elementary School campus.

Following the ceremony guests will have the opportunity to tour one of the completed units. Residents are expected to move in on October 1, 2023.

The project was initiated to address the rising cost of local housing and aid the CVUSD in recruiting and retaining new staff. The 10 one-bedroom, one bath units come equipped with a full kitchen and laundry room and are being made available to staff at $550.00 a month rent. Nine of the units are currently reserved, one unit will remain vacant for a new staff member to be determined later.

“These are being provided to some of our staff as a way for them to set up roots in the community with a goal to build up some savings to find permanent housing down the road,” said CVUSD Superintendent John Scholl.

The $1.5 million project, completed by The Pronghorn Group of Prescott Valley, AZ, was funded in large part with Arizona Dept. of Education grants and constructed on vacant property the CVUSD already owned.

Parking for the ceremony and open house will be along W Road 2 N and in the adjacent CVUSD archery field directly west of the housing site. Light refreshments will be provided.
