Just like every other season, fall is the perfect time to explore the universe! Over the next few months, we will explore the wonders of the cosmos through planetarium shows. Here are our September offerings:
Across the Visible Universe
This live planetarium show is all about the concept of size and scale when it comes to the universe. Starting at Earth, we will fly farther and farther away from home, encountering the incredible structures that populate the cosmos, traveling right to the edge of our visible knowledge of what surrounds us.

- Friday, September 15: 6 p.m. & 7 p.m.
- Saturday, September 16: 2 p.m., 3 p.m. & 4 p.m.

Show Times:
- Friday, September 22*: 7 p.m. & 8 p.m.

Relaxation Under the Stars
Come by the planetarium to unwind during an event focused on relaxation, wellness, and finding comfort.
The first half of the program is a small vignette that follows a traveler lost in the far reaches of the universe as he attempts to find his way back home.
The second half of the program is a live show created by the Jim and Linda Lee Planetarium in partnership with Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University’s Wellness Center that focuses on exploring ways to relax even despite the hustle and bustle of our everyday lives. We will fly through the stars as we consider strategies for managing stress.
Show Times:
- Friday, September 29: 6 p.m. & 7 p.m.
- Saturday, September 30: 2 p.m., 3 p.m. & 4 p.m.
Annular Solar Eclipse: Live from Lowell Observatory!
An annular solar eclipse will carve its way across parts of North and South America on October 14th, and Lowell Observatory will be partnering with the Sunspot Solar Observatory to bring the best views of this unique astronomical event to wherever you are in the world! Unlike a total solar eclipse, an annular eclipse occurs when the Moon does not completely cover the Sun from our perspective on Earth, and a ring of light or annulus remains at the deepest point of the eclipse.
The Jim and Linda Lee Planetarium will carry Lowell’s eclipse stream on our dome, so our visitors can experience this spectacular event in a larger-than-life format. Attendees to the planetarium event will also have the opportunity to ask questions to the expert astronomers presenting on Lowell’s livestream.
Show Times:
- Saturday, October 14th: 8:00 a.m.
