Painting: Great Lyre by John Romi
An international group of artists will show their paintings, prints, drawings, hand-made musical instruments, and music videos at Yavapai College Prescott Art Gallery during September’s Sonic Expressions: Art + Music exhibition.
Artists from as far afield as New York, Connecticut, Maine, Maryland, North Carolina, and Germany responded to the gallery’s call to artists for this major group exhibition exploring the ancient relationship between art and music. The group of 27 includes local artists from Prescott, Phoenix, and the Verde Valley, and from nearby California and Colorado as well.
Internationally acclaimed sculptor and violin luthier Carl Dahl, a YC Visual Arts Department adjunct professor, chose the group from among a host of submissions.
Featured artists include:
Michael Ananian, Joshua Broadbent, Gary Cassidy, Jeanne Ciravolo, Bernadette Craig, Ashley Darling, Joy Herhold, Tony Holmquist, Kenneth Kasten, Igal Kogan
Jacob Kravetz and the Make or Measure Collective, Gene Latour, Steve Mason
Marianne McCarthy, Richard McFaul, Nancy Mooslin, Keelin Miller, Amy Newton-McConnel, William Osborne III, John Romi, Eileen Roth, Steve Straussner, Carrie Scanga. Bear Schutz, Chenxi Shao, and Mike von der Nahmer.
