On Wednesday, May 3rd, at approximately 7:00 A.M. officers responded to the 700 block of White Spar Road after the report of an unresponsive injured female. EMS personnel along with officers determined that the female appeared to have been struck by a vehicle
Through the course of the investigation, officers were able to access video footage from a nearby business which showed the incident. The victim was walking her dog on the sidewalk when she was struck by a newer full-sized Dodge four door truck. After the initial collision, the driver of the vehicle backs up and alongside the victim. He then turns around and leaves the scene northbound on White Spar towards the downtown area. The actual collision occurred at approximately 6:50 A.M
The victim in this case was transported to YRMC and later flown to a Phoenix area hospital where she is in very critical condition, fighting for her life. The suspect never made any attempts to assist the victim or call to report.
UPDATE
On May 3 rd , at approximately 1:30 P.M. a Prescott Police Department Investigator observed a vehicle matching the description of the suspect vehicle in the parking lot at 1245 East Gurley St. Officers were able to detain the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle. Upon inspection of the vehicle, investigators located damage consistent with the collision. The suspect made statements to investigators while on scene admitting his involvement.
We appreciate the community reaching out with information and providing leads. We are grateful for our Officer’s attentiveness and the quality work done by all our investigators who were working tirelessly to locate this dangerous suspect. Currently, we are still working through all the details of this investigation. We will provide updates, along with updated victim status, and suspect information once he is formally charged.

White Spar never a cop around though we have been complaining for years about the Semi’s,the drunk drivers, the motor cycle groups and the reckless drivers running people off the road. It’s DPS responsibility is what we gettold Contact ADOT they say… We have they do nothing Thankfully he ran her down in Prescott city limits where the police did a good quick job of getting this SOB off the road.

A series of blind curves through residential area that people regularly speed through. Animals, wild and pets, regularly are hit. We need officer enforcement to curb the wreckless drivers along with warning signs of animal and people sharing the road.
