On Saturday, April 29th, 2023, at approximately 10:25 P.M. Prescott Police officers responded to the Carnival that was taking place at 840 Rodeo Drive after receiving the report of shots being fired at this location.
Through the course of the investigation, it was determined that a physical altercation had occurred between two groups of juveniles. At some point during this altercation one of the juveniles produced a handgun and fired it off. One 16-year-old juvenile suspect was struck with a handgun round in the leg, which through the investigation appears as though was accidentally self-inflicted.
Investigators are still actively working this incident and sorting out the details which led to this shooting. While multiple juveniles involved have been identified, we are seeking the assistance of any witnesses that may have further information to provide. If you have any information regarding this incident, please contact Detective Jennison at 928-777-1988 ext. 5640. You can also report any information anonymously through Yavapai Silent Witness at yavapaisw.com or at 1-800-932-3232.
This incident was the result of careless and reckless behavior by a group of juveniles who showed no regard for the well-being of any innocent bystanders. Thankfully no other people were injured by the criminal acts of these kids. This behavior in our community will not be tolerated. Currently numerous criminal charges are pending.

“Careless Reckless behavior by juveniles” exactly what we in the SENIOR living areas have been complaining about. What were once quiet, peaceful, retirement communities being overrun with druggies drunks and their out of control kids Nowhere is safe from these nasty bullying mouthy teens when the powers that be have excused it as boys will be boys behavior. They are a danger to society.. It is time to hold parents as responsible for their offspring as dog owners are for their pets. Dog owners can’t let their pets roam the streets unleashed parents shouldn’t be allowed to let their teens roam the streets without supervision /
