Varsity Baseball

The Prescott Badgers overcame the crazy elements Monday afternoon, holding on to beat the Lee Williams Volunteers 14-11. The teams combined for 25 runs, 19 hits, 20 walks, and 18 stolen bases in a nightmare for the battery mates (pitcher and catcher) of both schools. Eight pitchers, four by each team, threw a combined total of 323 pitches.

The game was tied at seven before the Badgers posted seven in the bottom of the sixth. The Volunteers made it interesting with four in their last at bat.

Jack Burton homered and had four RBIs. Sam Strasser scored four runs, having a pair of hits and walks, plus three RBIs. The Badgers were outhit by three, 11-8, but were benefitted by eight walks by Volunteer pitching. Paul Fernow picked up the win as Prescott improves to (4-1) in the Grand Canyon and (9-5) overall. Lee Williams dropped their fifth straight, falling to (0-4) and (6-8).

The Badgers will surely enjoy some warm weather and less wind, as they travel to the Scottsdale to play Saguaro today at 3:45 pm. The Sabercats (12-6), are in the midst of a four game winning streak.

Ava Hlavecek hit a homerun and had three RBIs to help the Badgers beat Lee Williams 19-3 in Kingman. The win improves Prescott to (4-1) in the Grand Canyon Region and (6-7) overall. Lee Williams falls to (0-4) and (6-11).

Prescott broke the game open with a twelve run fifth inning to completely deflate any notion of a Volunteer comeback. Four Badgers had three RBIs in the game. Besides Hlavecek, Riley Crockett had three hits, including a double and three RBIs. Sydney Krahulik also had three hits and three RBIs. Gracie Periera also had three RBIs. RJ Parra threw a complete game, allowing just three runs on five hits with twelve strikeouts.

Prescott will travel to Flagstaff to play Coconino on Saturday at 1 pm.
