The Prescott Badgers opened up the Judy Dixon Tournament at Greenway High School, with a blowout 30 point win over the Skyline Coyotes 71-41. Uriah Tenette led all scorers with 23. Zane Gaul had another double-double with 11 points and 13 rebounds.
The Badgers were quick to jump out on top with a combination of good Badger defense and poor shooting by the Coyotes, resulting in a 16-1 Prescott lead after the first quarter.
Skyline was able to put together a solid second quarter, but the Badgers still extended the lead to 33-15 at halftime. The lead grew a little more to 52-27 after three quarters, with subs getting plenty of minutes to close out the contest. Jeremiah Cole led Skyline, a 6A division school in Mesa, with 12 points.
The Badgers (5-1) will play Catalina Foothills (8-2) today at 4:30 pm. No other scores in the 12 team tournament were made available.
