Fentanyl Overdose Leads to Crash and Arrest – Prescott Valley Police Department

On Thursday, October 20, 2022, at approximately 7:43 pm, Prescott Valley Police officers were dispatched to the intersection of E. Florentine Road and N. Golden Way for a single-vehicle accident with witnesses reporting the driver was unresponsive.

When officers arrived on the scene, they observed an unresponsive male in the driver’s seat of a Chevrolet Silverado. Witnesses reported to officers that they observed this truck crash into the ditch and get stuck at which time they observed that the driver’s foot was still on the gas pedal with the engine still revving. During this time one of the witnesses reported that they reached into the truck and placed the truck into the park position for safety reasons.

Officers then began life-saving efforts using Narcan, which resulted in the driver, Charles Broan, age 27 of Prescott Valley, coming to and being transported by ambulance to Yavapai Regional Medical Center.

Upon investigation, it was learned Broan had been using Fentanyl while driving, resulting in him overdosing, becoming unconscious, and crashing his vehicle into a ditch.

Broan was charged with DUI Drugs, Aggravated DUI, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and was booked into Yavapai County Jail. Additional drug test results are pending which may result in additional charges.

Fentanyl continues to plague our community. Prescott Valley Police are trained in Narcan and other life-saving measures which undoubtedly saved the life of Broan.

Prescott Valley Police Department can be contacted at (928) 772-9267 for non-emergencies, and 911 for emergencies. Yavapai County Silent witness is 1-800-932-3232.

  1. Well maybe if Mark Kelly wasn’t busy figuring the best time to exercise stock options “for a technology firm with ties to China”, he’d actually do something to end the Fentanyl disaster that is poisoning tens of thousands of Americans.

Mark Kelly has been a disaster for Arizona.

Don’t believe Mark Kelly’s radio and media ads. They are full of lies. Mark Kelly does exactly what Chuck Schumer tells him to do. And he has voted against every border security effort since he took office. He is 100% OPEN BORDERS and 100% RADICAL LEFT.
