Castle Hot Springs: The tale of Arizona’s oldest resort – Sharlot Hall Museum

Join the Sharlot Hall Museum for a one-of-a-kind film experience on Saturday, September 24 for a showing of the Emmy-winning documentary, Castle Hot Springs: Oasis of Time.

The film, which documents the history of Arizona’s oldest resort from its original 1873 founding as a stagecoach stop to today, explores the environment, characters, and events that shaped the hotel’s remarkable history. In addition to everyday Arizonans, Castle Hot Springs welcomed regional, national, and international figures.

Resort residents and visitors dipped their toes in geothermal waters, put on their cowboy hats for trail rides, learned to rope from real-life wranglers, and put on their best for society dinners. From the glamour of the Rockefellers and Roosevelts in the early 1900s to John F. Kennedy’s respite during World War II, the Springs has many stories to tell.

A social soirée will open the evening, treating attendees to drinks and hors d’oeuvres. Guests will also hear directly from filmmaker Kristin Atwell Ford as she introduces the film and participates in a Q&A session after the screening. The Museum’s Library & Archives will present a special display with a range of historic materials from Castle Hot Springs, and Museum founder Sharlot M. Hall herself will make a special appearance during the program. This is an evening you don’t want to miss!

The event will run from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm at the Sharlot Hall Museum. Tickets are $15 for Museum members, $25 for non-members, and can be pre-purchased online.

More information on all programs and events can be found on the Museum’s website .
