Yesterday (3/29) around 2 pm, a Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office K-9 unit made a traffic stop on the I-17 North Bound just North of Cordes Lakes, which resulted in the confiscation of approximately 11 lbs. of fentanyl and one arrest.
The Deputy pulled the driver, Maximilano Gonzalez-Beltran, over for having a view obstruction hanging from his rear-view mirror, and excessive tint on his windows. During routine questioning for the traffic stop, Gonzalez-Beltran admitted to transporting the drugs. He is currently booked into the Yavapai County Jail in Prescott, Ariz.
Gonzalez-Beltran is being charged with transportation of a narcotic drug for sale and possession and use of drug paraphernalia. He is a Mexican citizen who stated he entered the United States through the Port of Nogales, and was traveling North through Yavapai County.
