Incident Description 4 Lightning Caused Fires In The Area: Rafael, Sand Flat, Archibald, Horney.

The Rafael Fire has been getting a lot of moisture from the monsoons, and is now mostly a creeping fire. Firefighters are continuing to mop up and make sure that there are no further outbreaks.

Acres: 40,855 acres

Percent Containment: 64%

Start Date: June 16, 2021

Cause: Lightning
Origin Location: Approximately 12 miles west of Pine and Strawberry, Arizona
Personnel Assigned: 504

Increasing chance of rain today

There is a 50% chance of rain today and the probability increases over the next three days.  Firefighters will be working the fire’s edge looking for any remaining hot spots and transporting equipment from containment lines to their fire camp. Crews are also finishing chipping debris along the corridor of State Route 260.  Firefighters will continue suppression repair work across the fire area.

State Route 260 is now open.
