In the first local tournament since 2019, the shoes were flying on Saturday at the Cal Cordes Singles Horseshoe Pitching Tournament. The courts are located at Watson Lake.
Three classes on individuals participated with awards going to the top two finishers.
In the Class A Division, Bruce Reid from Congress, had to go into “overtime” in pitching an extra game to ultimately beat Trisha Lincoln of Prescott to take first place.
The Class B Division saw Modesta Ramirez of Kingman sweeping with a 6-0 record to win. Neil Sweezey of Sun City took second.
The Class C Division had George Stockton of Kingman narrowly beating John Barney from Sun City West, to take home first place.
Cal Cordes said, “What a great day for everyone to come out an compete. It is always good to get to see so many good people out here having fun. The weather is perfect and I just want to thank everyone again for coming out today.” .
