The Central Arizona Fire and Medical Authority (CAFMA) and the Prescott Fire Department (PFD) are inviting residents, landowners, and community members to participate in a series of community meetings as the agencies develop a Community Wildfire Protection Plan (CWPP).
The CWPP will help identify wildfire risks throughout the community and guide future efforts to reduce those risks and strengthen preparedness, response, and overall community safety.
The need for this work is significant. The region’s Wildfire Hazard Potential ranks higher than 97% of communities nationwide, placing residents, infrastructure, and first responders at elevated risk from wildfire.
“Wildfire preparedness is a shared responsibility, and local knowledge is an important part of understanding the challenges our community faces,” said Conrad Jackson, PFD Wildfire Risk Manager. “We want residents and landowners to have an opportunity to share what they know, ask questions, and help identify priorities as this plan is developed.”
The community meetings will provide an overview of the CWPP, explain the planning process and timeline, and give attendees an opportunity to pass along information, identify concerns, and share local perspectives that may help inform the plan.

“Preparing for wildfire is a community effort,” said Alan Schuster, CAFMA Battalion Chief and Wildland Coordinator. “CAFMA and Prescott Fire Department are working together to better understand the risks we face and develop strategies that will make our community more prepared and resilient. The input we receive from residents will be an important part of that process.”
