Targeted Traffic Enforcement Operation – Prescott Valley Police Dept

The Prescott Valley Police Department conducted a targeted traffic enforcement operation on August 8, 2026, focusing on dangerous and criminal traffic behavior, including excessive speed, reckless driving, and driving behaviors associated with impaired driving.
The Prescott Valley Police Department remains strongly committed to protecting the community, particularly our youth, from the serious dangers associated with street racing, excessive speed, reckless driving, and other dangerous driving behaviors. These enforcement operations are intended to identify and address dangerous drivers before their actions result in serious injury or death.
During the operation, officers made 36 traffic contacts and issued:
  • 20 speeding citations
  • 10 other traffic citations
  •  3 criminal traffic citations
Several significant enforcement actions occurred during the event:
DUI / Unlawful Flight
An officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop after observing driving behavior consistent with impairment. The driver initially failed to stop, resulting in an unlawful flight investigation. The driver ultimately stopped and was arrested for DUI. The vehicle was impounded and the driver was booked into jail on felony charges.
Excessive Speed
On Glassford Hill Road near Long Look Drive, an officer observed a vehicle traveling 69 MPH in a posted 35 MPH zone. The driver was arrested for excessive speed and was subsequently released at the scene.
Reckless Driving
At the same location on Glassford Hill Road near Long Look Drive, another driver was arrested for reckless driving and subsequently released at the scene.
The Prescott Valley Police Department encourages all motorists to slow down, obey posted speed limits, and make responsible decisions behind the wheel. Dangerous driving behaviors can have devastating consequences, and a moment of poor judgment can permanently change the lives of drivers, passengers, pedestrians, and other motorists
