On Thursday, May 28, 2026, at approximately 12:30 PM, Jeffrey Jones, a 63-year-old Prescott resident, was traveling southbound on White Spar Road in a 2003 Ford F-150 truck when he collided with a motorcycle ridden by a 25-year-old Prescott resident.
According to witnesses, Jones was driving aggressively and recklessly, utilizing opposing lanes of traffic before attempting to merge back into the proper lane. Jones struck the rear of the 2025 Kawasaki motorcycle, causing it to fall with the rider still attached. The driver of the motorcycle was dragged an estimated 220 feet before becoming separated from the motorcycle.
Following the collision, Jones fled the scene southbound and turned onto Peterson Drive, eventually stopping near the intersection of Cathedral Pines and Escalante Drive after believing his vehicle had become mechanically disabled. When contacted by officers, Jones attempted to conceal alcohol containers. He was taken into custody and refused to participate in Standardized Field Sobriety Tests (SFSTs).
Jones was arrested on multiple felony charges, including Aggravated Assault, Aggravated DUI, Felony Hit and Run, Endangerment, and several additional criminal violations. He later provided breath samples which were significantly higher than the legal limit. Jones was booked into the Yavapai County jail.
