On Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at approximately 4:15 PM, the Prescott Police Department responded to a single-vehicle collision on the LaGuardia Bridge, located in the 400 block of North Montezuma Street.
Upon arrival, officers determined that a 2012 Ford truck had been traveling northbound on Montezuma Street when the driver, a 43-year-old California resident, lost control of the vehicle. The truck crossed the center line into opposing lanes of traffic, struck the bridge guardrail, and rolled onto its side. The driver was partially ejected and sustained traumatic injuries.
Personnel from the Prescott Fire Department and EMS responded to provide emergency aid; however, the driver was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Montezuma Street between Sheldon Street and Navajo Drive remained closed for several hours while officers processed the scene.
Several witnesses reported observing the truck driving recklessly prior to the collision, including speeding and possibly running red lights.
