On March 28th at approximately 3:30 p.m., the Prescott Technical Support Unit (TSU) responded to the Granite Gardens area within the Prescott Dells to assist the Prescott Fire Department in locating an injured hiker.
The Technical Support Unit (TSU) is a specialized joint team comprised of Prescott Police and Fire personnel who are specially trained in Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems (sUAS) operations.
A TSU drone operator deployed an unmanned aerial system and successfully located the injured hiker. The operator then provided real-time guidance to emergency personnel, directing them to the hiker’s exact location.
The coordinated response allowed rescuers to quickly reach the injured individual and provide necessary medical aid.
The rapid deployment of TSU drone operators continues to play a critical role in reducing search times and improving outcomes during rescue operations, particularly in locating injured or missing hikers in remote and rugged terrain.
