The Town of Prescott Valley has become aware of a situation involving an insulation company that has been canvassing neighborhoods in Prescott Valley, stating they are conducting inspections on behalf of the city, the town, the state, or APS. They use high-pressure tactics to set up appointments and then attempt to sell insulation to the homeowner.
Please be aware that Town of Prescott Valley staff do NOT conduct unsolicited inspections at homes or businesses after hours. Official Code Compliance staff members and Building Inspectors always wear uniforms with the Town logo, carry ID badges and business cards, and drive vehicles clearly marked with the Town logo. Town staff are always willing to show their identification or provide a business card upon request.
In Prescott Valley, anyone going door to door for commercial purposes must have a valid peddler’s license. It is unlawful for any peddler, solicitor, or transient merchant to operate within the Town without first obtaining this license. If someone visits your property, you have the right to ask for their peddler’s license. If they refuse to show a license or do not have one, please report the incident to the Prescott Valley Police Department at 928-772-9267.
