Demonstration Fires Being Lit on the Bradshaw Ranger District

In support of the Arizona Wildfire and Incident Management Academy, fire managers on the Bradshaw Ranger District of the Prescott National Forest will light several small demonstration fires (less than .25 acre in size) to be used as a part of the Wildland Fire Origin and Cause Determination course.

Multiple small demonstration fires will be lit during favorable weather conditions the week of March 9, 2026. The demonstration fires will occur in the Schoolhouse Rd./Loba area and will be extinguished shortly after being lit.  Smoke may be visible from multiple locations. Smoke will be heaviest during ignitions, but some residual smoke could be visible after ignitions.  Go to https://fire.airnow.gov/ to find more detailed information about air quality.

The Arizona Wildfire and Incident Management Academy is a week-long training venue that offers over 45 classes at all levels of wildfire and incident management training. The Arizona Wildfire and Incident Management Academy hosts current and future firefighters from all over the United States. In 2024 the academy hosted a record 1,000 students making it the biggest year in its 22-year history.
