This morning, firefighters responded to a reported structure fire at the Landings of Prescott Valley, an assisted living facility. Fortunately, it wasn’t a building fire as the incident was contained to a microwave, which crews safely removed. The building was then ventilated to clear smoke.
Staff evacuated residents as a precaution, and there were no reported injuries. Thanks to the quick response and strong cooperation among crews on scene, staff and residents were safely moving back inside within just 20 minutes of the initial dispatch.
The Landings had conducted a fire drill earlier this week, and that preparation helped ensure a safe evacuation. It’s a good reminder for everyone to have an evacuation plan and practice it at least twice a year!
CAFMA thanks Copperstate Ambulance, Prescott Fire Department, and the Prescott Valley Police Department for their assistance.
