Embry-Riddle Hosts Aviation History Presentation: ‘Views from the Flying Carpet’ with Greg Brown

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University will welcome award-winning flight instructor, podcaster, author and aviation educator Greg Brown for an upcoming Aviation History Speaking Series event titled “Views from the Flying Carpet: Fine Art Aerial Photography.”

The presentation, free and open to the public, will take place Thursday, Oct. 16, 2025, from 6 to 7 p.m. in the Davis Learning Center (DLC) Auditorium at Embry-Riddle. Community members are invited to explore this fascinating chapter of Arizona’s aviation legacy.

Brown—renowned for his book Flying Carpet: The Soul of an Airplane and long-running aviation columns—will share his fine art aerial photography and the stories behind each image, revealing how light, motion and perspective combine to create art from above. Drawing on decades of experience in the flight deck, his presentation offers an inspiring look at the beauty, challenges and history of aviation through a visual storyteller’s lens.

A former National Flight Instructor of the Year and longtime contributor to AOPA’s Flight Training Magazine, Brown has inspired generations of pilots through his writing, photography and mentorship.

For more information, contact event coordinator Chris Walton at waltonc1@erau.edu or 928-777-6960. Don’t miss this opportunity to connect with one of general aviation’s most inspiring voices.
