The Granite Mountain Interagency Hotshot Crew Learning and Tribute Center is currently accepting applications for volunteers to act as visitor hosts and guides.
Volunteers serve primarily as greeters and guides, and will conduct some retail transactions. Volunteer shifts are three hours. All volunteers are subject to a background check, and will be trained. The minimum commitment is just six times per year.
The Center is located at the Pineridge Marketplace (formerly Gateway Mall) and is open Friday 2-5 pm Saturday 11 am- 5pm. and Sunday 1 -4 p.m.
“This is a good fit for individuals who have served as first responders, particularly the fire service,” said Board Chair John Marsh, “Compassionate individuals from all walks of life are welcome.”
The Center is a non-profit organization, and is entirely volunteer operated. The Center houses artifacts, memorabilia and stories from the 19 heroes who gave their lives on June 30, 2013 while battling the Yarnell Hill Fire. The Center has hosted almost 60,000 visitors since opening in 2018. For more information, and to sign up, go to GMIHC19.org.
