Join us for the second in our series of jazz music exploration as we celebrate the Great Ladies of Jazz! Enjoy a great evening of jazz music in the beautiful Elks’ Crystal Hall on the 3rd floor of the Performing Arts Center.
Musicians and singers from around Arizona will be joining together to present evenings that will include not only the music, but historical facts and anecdotes about the music and the musicians who have performed America’s True Art Form for over 100 years. This show will feature guest trumpet player, Louise Barranger!
Born in Hollywood, Louise Baranger played in Los Angeles with the bands of Harry James, Nelson Riddle, Bill Berry, Jack Wilson, and Ray Anthony. Louise has played numerous jazz festival and performed with JJ Johnson, Clarke Terry, Plas Johnson, Buddy Collette, Stanley Clarke, John Pizarrelli, Alan Broadbent, Barney Kessel, Mel Powell, and a host of others.
Louise’s 9 piece “little” big band has played at the Emmy Awards, Boston’s Symphony Hall, and numerous private events. As a guest soloist, she has performed with symphony orchestras and jazz bands in Germany, Japan, Argentina, Peru and throughout the U.S. Her most recent recording is “Louise Baranger Plays the Great American Groove Book” on Summit Records.
