Fraud schemes are on the rise in our area and scammers are getting more sophisticated in their tactics. We would like to remind you to stay vigilant when dealing with unexpected phone calls, emails, or text messages. If something feels off – trust your instincts! Just hang up!
Here are some red flags of a scam:
❌ They ask you to purchase gift cards as payment.
❌ They want you to wire money or pay with Bitcoin.
❌ They claim you won a prize but must pay a fee first.
❌ They request your Social Security Number or bank details.
❌ They say the offer is only good for today and pressure you to act fast.
❌ They tell you to keep the call a secret and not tell anyone.
Scammers prey on urgency and fear. If in doubt, just hang up!
