Christmas Eve Family Shooting: Man Shot in Head, His Stepfather Charged
Yavapai County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a family fight in Mayer. When deputies arrived, they found the victim had fled the residence, driving himself and his kids to a hospital in Prescott with a gunshot wound to the top of the head.
The suspect, who is a Mayer resident in his late 60’s, was standing on the porch and told deputies he was sorry he shot his stepson. During the initial investigation, deputies found a handgun that was possibly used.
While at the hospital, the victim told deputies he was shot by his Stepfather because of an argument over his cellphone and dirty dishes. He claimed his stepfather grabbed a gun and shot him point blank in the top of the head, leaving a significant gash. The suspect was charged with attempted 2nd Degree Homicide, aggravated assault and prohibited weapons possessor. The victim was treated at the hospital and released.
A Christmas Grinch Steals Thousands of Dollars Worth of Stuff from Neighbor’s Home
On Christmas night, YCSO responded to a Cottonwood home where a resident stated he had thousands of dollars’ worth of his stuff stolen. During the investigation, it was discovered the victim’s own neighbor was the suspect, who is a man in his late 50’s, He had all the stolen belongings in his home next door. This included very personal items. He was arrested and booked on burglary, trespassing, and theft charges.
