The City of Prescott, in conjunction with the Prescott Chamber of Commerce, would like to invite the community to join in celebrating Arizona’s Official Christmas City, with the 42nd Annual Christmas Parade and 70th Annual Courthouse Lighting.
The 42nd Annual Christmas Parade will take place on Saturday, December 7, 2024. Staging for the parade will close beginning at 9:00 a.m. The Staging area street closures are as follows:
- Willis St (from Mt. Vernon St to Montezuma St)
- Cortez St, Marina St, Alarcon St, & Pleasant St (Sheldon St to Gurley St)
Staging area roads are anticipated to reopen at approximately 4:00 p.m. or when Prescott Police Department deems it is safe to do so.
The Parade itself will begin at 1:00 p.m. The Parade route will begin closing to vehicle traffic beginning at 8:00 a.m. The parade route closure will be:
8:00 a.m. closure
- Gurley St from Montezuma St to Cortez St
9:00 a.m. closure
- Cortez St from Willis St to Goodwin St
- Union St from Cortez St to Marina St
- Goodwin St from Granite St to Marina St
- Montezuma St from Goodwin St to Sheldon St.
Parade route roads are anticipated to reopen at approximately 4:00 p.m. or when Prescott Police Department deems it is safe to do so. However, in the interest of public safety, the City will keep the following roads closed for the Courthouse Lighting event:
- Gurley St from Montezuma St to Cortez St
- Montezuma St from Gurley St to Goodwin St
- Cortez St from Gurley St to Union St
The 70th Annual Courthouse Lighting festivities will begin at 5:00 p.m., with seasonal music on the Courthouse steps. At 6:00 p.m., the program will begin. At the conclusion of the program, look to the sky for a fantastic fireworks display.
The remaining road closures are anticipated to reopen at approximately 9:00 p.m. or when Prescott Police Department deems it is safe to do so.
As with any event in the downtown area, parking will be at a premium and very limited. There will be a free shuttle starting at 12:00 p.m. both from Prescott High School (1050 N. Ruth St) and in the back parking lot of Yavapai College (across from the tennis courts off Washington St) to the Parking Garage on Granite St. The shuttle will run until 8:00 p.m. The Parking Garage on Granite St will be open as well. We ask that spectators and participants in the parade, be courteous and mindful of businesses in the downtown area that remain open during these events.
