On October 28, 2024, at approximately 6:48 P.M. Prescott Police Officers responded to the area of the 300 block of North Montezuma Street after receiving a report of a male suspect threatening a female with a handgun. Responding officers were able to quickly locate the suspect in his vehicle in the parking lot of Panda Express.
As officers attempted to contact the suspect, he refused to comply with officers’ commands and began yelling at the officers to shoot him. Officers attempted to verbally deescalate the suspect who refused to comply or exit his vehicle. Due to the aggressive and erratic behavior of the suspect, the Special Weapons and Tactics Team responded to the scene to assist.
Once on scene, S.W.A.T. officers were able to utilize less than lethal tactics to take the suspect into custody. The suspect was evaluated by mental health professionals prior to being transported and booked into the Yavapai County Jail on charges of aggravated assault, disorderly conduct with a weapon, and endangerment.
A warrant search was conducted on the vehicle. Investigators located a 9mm handgun inside the center console.
