On Thursday afternoon, just before 3pm, the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a wildfire near Towers Mountain in Crown King. The fire was approximately 10 acres and spreading. Due to the location and proximity to Crown King, YCSO placed the small community on SET status, sending notifications through Everbridge and Genasys. YCSO Deputies immediately began interviewing people in the area to find the origin.
The Department of Forestry Management was able to put the fire out quickly. YCSO and the Forest Service are currently investigating the cause of the fire.
The public is free and welcome to enjoy the area this weekend but are being asked to please be responsible with fire.
