Micro Seal Preservation Project on Willow Creek Road – Scheduled the Week of March 18, 2024

The City of Prescott and their contractor, Southwest Slurry Seal, are set to begin the FY24 Micro Seal Preservation Project the week of March 18. The project consists of micro milling (removing a thin layer of the existing pavement), crack sealing (filling existing cracks in the pavement with an adhesive sealant) and applying a micro seal treatment (a seal coat designed to extend pavement life) to the asphalt pavement along Willow Creek Road, from Green Lane/Pulliam Drive to just south of Iron Springs Road/Whipple Street (including the independent turn lanes).

A detailed notification door hanger will be delivered to those directly affected prior to micro seal operations commencing in a given area. The notifications will include information regarding access, work hours and traffic impacts related to these operations.

Please note, this is a fast moving project, with the anticipated completion at the end of May 2024. Once finished, this project will extend pavement life and improve the road quality for Prescott motorists.

Work will begin with roadway preparation and micro milling. Micro seal operations are scheduled to begin in early April 2024. Work may occur Monday through Friday, from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the northbound lanes, and from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. in the southbound lanes. One lane of traffic will always be open in each direction, however, please be aware of temporary driveway closures, reduced speeds, rough road conditions, loud noise and flagging operations throughout the work zones. Access to driveway entrances along Willow Creek Road could be restricted for up to 15 minutes to allow the pavement surface treatment to properly dry. These restrictions will be coordinated on an individual basis with those affected. Motorists should expect delays and allow for extra time when traveling through the project corridor. The City is dedicated to keeping the traveling public, businesses and residents informed of potential construction impacts throughout the project.
